I've got a 1 yr old Juniper. I've been out of the country for three weeks. While away, my father-in-law 'took care of it'. He watered it every other day (doesn't remember how much water). I just got home and ALL the leaves are brittle and will snap off if you touch them even lightly.
The base of the trunk has some white-ish residue around it in a band.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for any help and insight anyone can give !!!!

I have some 2- year old junipers and this happened when I was expierimenting. Evergreens like Junipers do not meed alot of water as long as they have light (depending on the variaty). Mabee he overwatered? Also look for the desiese that has a white ring in books, It sounds familiar.

If needles fall off a juniper, you can pretty well count on it that is "sleeping." Look for another larger one during the fall when hardwares, etc are getting rid of their stock for the winter. Good Luck!
