I transplanted a wild-started mulberry seedling nearly 15 years ago into a regular sapling pot for fruit trees. I meant to move it into my yard, and never got around to it, although I've re-potted it without any pruning a couple of times. This 15-yr old tree is about 2 feet tall, has 3-4 low sprouting branches (grove maybe?) and produces fruit.
I decided to see if I can make it a proper bonsai, and am planning to root-prune when I repot this month. I bought some clay litter/absorbant and some potting soil, and I'm thinking I need to keep it relatively damp for the Texas summer.
Any advice? Anybody every heard of a mulberry bonsai?
